What is your favorite improvement to WordPress this past year?

Making the WordPress backend responsive in 3.8 has greatly improved the experience of working on mobile devices or smaller browser windows. Now I can at least make some changes to sites from my phone while I’m out and about and away from my laptop.

Why did you decide to speak at WordCamp Montreal?

The WordPress community has been so supportive and helpful whilst I’ve been getting to grips with the platform and, now I feel I have something useful to give back, I want to share what I’ve learnt with others.

What is your talk going to be about?

Finding the right plugin for the job in order to get your WordPress site to do exactly what you want it to. There can be so many choices that sometimes finding the perfect plugin feels more like dating than an exact science. We’ll explore some basic guidelines you can follow to weed out the duds and I’ll share some of my ‘must-have’ plugins.

What is the one thing you want people to walk away with from your talk?

A list of basic guidelines to follow to help you narrow down your plugin selection and filter out the weaker options.

Who in the WordPress community inspires you? Who do you follow?

The many core and plugin developers who contribute their time, expertise and passion to continually improving and expanding the WordPress platform.

What new feature would you like to see in the future?
